Hello leg cramp sufferers!
Well I have to admit that I generally don’t get leg cramps. I think it has been something like 4 years since I had one… then last night BAM!!!
It hit like a violent attack… In the dead of the night, I woke up screaming, holding onto my right calf muscle, crying…
Actually it is starting to hurt again just thinking about it LOL
I remember reaching over tapping my husband trying to wake him up. He stirred, asked what was happening and then went back to sleep…
Now I remember when we were first dating and I was getting cramps in my calf muscle how he would rub my leg gently, stretching it and telling me it was all ok…
Oh how life has changed since being married LOL
Just an update… when I told him about my cramp in the morning, his response was that he thought I was dreaming!
Anyway, back to the leg cramp!
Now leg cramps generally occur due to dehydration or overexertion. This leg cramp was definitely due to overexertion as I have started a new gym training program and it involves a lot of leg training days!
I am fully aware that when you have a cramp, you should massage and stretch it gently until it eases. If it is in your calf, flex your foot to attempt to stretch the muscle, or walk around on your heels if the pain isn’t unbearable…
Blah blah blah yeh we all know this!
But hey what did I do?
I just sat upright in bed, hand on calf screaming and crying like a baby LOL
Thankfully cramps do disappear after a few minutes but feel sore for a bit after.
I went back to sleep, woke up, went to the dym and damn… It’s leg day today!!!!
Medical note… if you are experiencing constant leg cramps, please speak to a medical practitioner.
