So if you are reading this Hotel Bayerischer Hof review, you are probably wondering if this famous Munich Hotel lives up to the hype! I’ve been to Munich before (a few times), but this was my first stay at this iconic hotel. I know my way around the pretzels, the beer halls and I’ve definitely dodged a few enthusiastic cyclists in the old town. But this time, I wanted to level up and experience what everyone talks about: the famous Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich.
And spoiler: I get the hype.
First Impressions at Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich: Fancy but Friendly (With Bonus Top Hats)
Right from the moment I arrived at Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich, I knew this place was going to be something special. The doormen? Top hats. Yes, actual top hats. Honestly, they deserve their own moment of appreciation. I don’t know what it is about a top hat, but it instantly makes everything feel like an occasion.
The hotel is grand, but it’s not that intimidating “don’t breathe too loud” kind of fancy. It’s more like, “We know we’re fabulous, but you’re welcome to enjoy it with us.” Exactly the vibe I love.
Hotel Bayerischer Hof Review: My Room Was a Win
Let’s get straight into the room because it was brilliant. Big, comfortable and well thought out. We were actually given an accessible room which means a lot more space. The room was a not trying too hard, not over-designed — just proper, old-school luxury done well. The kind of room where you drop your bags and immediately feel like you’ve upgraded your life.
And let’s talk about the bathroom for a second because yes, I judge hotels by their bathrooms. Bayerischer Hof passes with flying colours. Big fluffy towels, excellent lighting (important if you’re trying to pretend you’ve had more than 5 hours of sleep) and all the nice extras. Tick, tick, tick.
If you’re reading this Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich review wondering whether the rooms live up to the price — yes, they absolutely do.
The Vibe: Luxury Without the Fuss
The best thing about Hotel Bayerischer Hof Munich is its balance. It’s luxurious but not stuffy, elegant but still approachable. This isn’t the kind of hotel where you feel out of place if you aren’t dressed head to toe in designer labels. It’s welcoming and I genuinely felt comfortable from the moment I arrived.
Plus, the location is brilliant — walking distance to just about everything you want to see in Munich and only 350m to the Glockenspiel… 450m to my favourite store, Louis Vuitton! The That being said, I did not leave the hotel at all on my first day. Not once. And you know what? Zero regrets.
Breakfast: I Went Back Twice (Don’t Judge)
You know I take hotel breakfasts seriously. And this one? Absolute gold. Huge variety, really good quality and the kind of buffet that makes you rethink all your other meals of the day. Fresh pastries, proper eggs, great coffee and all the local Bavarian favourites. I did go back for seconds… and maybe thirds. Let’s move on.
Lunch at the Atrium: Highly Recommend
Since I wasn’t going anywhere (don’t judge, my husband was at Bauma Construction Expo so I was perfectly happy indoors), I decided to have lunch at the Atrium restaurant in the hotel. Safe to say, good decision. The atmosphere is relaxed but still polished and the food is exactly what you want after a morning of pretending you’re going to explore the city but actually just enjoying hotel life.
The service, just like everywhere else in the hotel, was spot on — friendly without being over the top. And the food? Delicious. Proper quality ingredients, done well. Simple, but elevated. I could have sat there all afternoon and honestly, I kind of did… writing this Blog!!!
Would I Stay Again?
Yep… In a heartbeat.
It’s not the cheapest option in town, but you get what you pay for — excellent service, great location and the kind of hotel that makes you feel like you’re on a proper holiday. No faff, no fluff, just a genuinely good experience.
And the best part? I’ve still got two more nights here. So if you need me, I’ll be living my best hotel life, probably loitering by the rooftop pool or making friends with the doormen in their top hats. Stay tuned — I’ll report back.
